Group therapy may be suitable for your child / the child you work with, when developing particular skills. For example, it can be particularly helpful for children and young people to develop language and social communication / conversational skills with others similar in age and ability. Sometimes it helps children to know they are not the only one who may struggle with a certain task / have a speech, language or communication need, whether that may be a difficulty in understanding language, speaking (including stammering) or social skills.
Whether group therapy is suitable for your child’s needs will be discussed with you following assessment of your child. Groups will be set up where there are other children with a similar need, so sometimes there may be a waiting period before the group therapy can start.
